That sounds a familiar mini. Where are you from? Would we have seen it around somewhere?

How much do you want to spend ?

Titanium hubs only cost £1195 a pair.

A fully carbon fiber Mini Marcos shell weighs just 7.25kg.

As far as i know the bolt on modifications you can do on the 1 litre engine are: stage 1 exhaust, LCB and K&N filter (20% power increase), and changing the cylinder head with a ported and better flowed 12g295 from a 998 cooper s (+6 hp). This without spending too much money. If you can and want to spend more then you can:
put a lightened timing gear, flywheel and clutch
change the camshaft, megadyne 256 or 266, these woul give you better torque at low and mid range rpm's respectively, don't go for anything higher than 270, you won't get any benefit unless you are always pushing the engine higher than 6000 rpm.
As far as i read there is no advantage really in changing the rockers with 1.3:1 high lift, again unless you re pushing the engine all the time over 6000 rpm.
You can install a ram pipe to increase air flow in the carb, but the gains are a max of 4-6 hp, according to the golden pages Vizard manual.
Then you can go for +40 or +60 omega pistons, but at this stage you are redoing the whole engine.
Or you can simply put in a 1275 engine.
Now let's see how much the experts will kick my ass :-)

i really didnt write this very well:
*edit*
IMHO on a 998 i'd put on a stage one kit, which bolts on as sanguiss says and makes for a lovely drivable car with plenty of poke. costs about 150.
if you want even more power, go for an engine swap. pretty much get what you pay for.

When 6 of us drove our Minis to Holland for IMM2008, at least 4 were 1-litres, including KMG's automatic and we held our own on the motorways.

And before the slagging starts, if I had a big thirsty 1275, I'd have run out of petrol much sooner!

Billy,

To be fair, woody had a crap 1275 engine and the 1 litres felt the hills across England, not many hills in Holland though.

that is an easy fix....

1. undo the cable at the accelerator pedal, its located right at the top of the pedal and should just slide up .... (bend down awkwardly to find it)
2. undo the accelerator cable on the carburettor (its only one of two, one is the choke the which is at the back, accelerator is at the front)
3. once the accelerator cable is undone on both ends follow where the casing goes and remember , then pull the casing not the cable, and then pull the cable from inside the car et voila!
4. ya could order a proper accelerator cable or be a cheapy like me and get an ordinary bicycle brake cable which does the job the same, you'l have to cut the cable and the casing (bicycle one) and do the exact opposite to the way you got it out :)

hope that helps.. its really not a hard job to do, and anyway its broke already so ya cant do anymore damage anyway while giving it a try
