Re: 81 1000 Project
Got some more done the last few days.
Went around all four corners checking that all the nuts and bolts are tight. Tightened up the engine mounts and fitted the engine steady. New bypass hose from the water pump to the head fitted. New rad and hoses went in. New rocker cover and gasket went on. Wiper mech, arms, blanks and washer jets all fitted. Clutch and brake master cylinders fitted and attached to the pedals, lucky theres no interior as fitting the split pins in the clevis pins is not the easiest of jobs. Fitted new head lights and indicators. Finished taking the drivers sill off eventually and started on the passenger side. The engine is also wired up just waiting on a new battery cable which was ordered yeaterday along with a good few other bits and pieces. Its all starting to come together now and starting to look more like a car again. Only big job left is the welding, everything else is small enough.

Re: 81 1000 Project
Been doing a bit since last update. Engine is now running in the car, brakes work and clutch works.
So mechanically its fairly sorted, now to finish of the bodywork and by that i mean cut out the rust and weld in new metal.
Replacement panel waiste line - see above
Both outer sills are off, drivers side inner is fine but passenger side needs some repairing
And just a bit of an artsy photo while i'm at it

Re: 81 1000 Project
car went for her maiden voyage on Sunday, first time on the road in nearly 13 years. Everything went ok, just need to soften up the suspension a bit. Didn't open her up as i want to give the engine a good run in first. Decided to leave the welding to someone else so all going well it'll be getting done this weekend. Should be getting a lesson in welding while its being done also.
I have 2 weeks off work from Monday hopefully going to spend a good bit of that either working on the car or driving it.
Sorry about the pic quality, was getting dark when i took it

Re: 81 1000 Project
Just back from a blast across Sally Gap with Sid, first proper drive out in it and was great crack. Hit a pot hole in Bray and cracked one of the rear arches in 2, will fix it tomorrow along with raising the rear suspension a bit but nothing major.

Re: 81 1000 Project
Cheers guys, the pics do it justice. Can't remember the last time it was washed (at least 5 years) and is due a respray sometime in the near future. Still a few little jobs to do on it and the carbs need setting up properly but want to get the engine loosened up first. New door rubbers, choke cable and horn(yes i now have a horn for my Mini ) all arrived today and to go on tomorrow.
