How much is too much ?
Probably a difficult one to answer but here goes
I viewed a 96 mini cooper last weekend but its a uk import and has the usual mini rust here and there I've seen a lot worse there is no holes or anything like that just little patches here and there like under lights and side of bonnet its just paint missing though the steel seems fine aswell as the boot and sills their fine.
I am considering viewing this mini again the weekend and maybe taking it and getting it treated for the rust and resprayed next year
Just what would people usually consider too much rust when purchasing a mini considering i do want to use it straight away on the weekends etc

Re: How much is too much ?
Depends on the cost. But any rust is too much IMO. A clean 96spi will be about €3,500 these days. Mine is a 91 that had alot of work done in 2005 to it, and rust is starting to come back in places. Make sure that there are no oversills on it. If that car hasnt been restored yet there will Definatley be more rust on it.
Bring a magnet with you next time to find some filler.

Re: How much is too much ?
Be very wary price sounds good but unless you know minis and where to look it can be an expensive purchase .
Four to five years seems to be about as long as a resto seems to last unless you take very good care of it .
UK cars all rust and minis are very prone to it. To have somebody who knows minis along when you go back to look at it
if you can would be a wise move. Best of luck and hope it all goes well for you
