Hi, I have a '91 mini mayfair and the ignition light does not come on when the key is turned but comes on the odd time.
The battery does not charge at all also

Is there propper tension on the fan belt ? Is the altinator plug loose ? Ckeck the voltage at the battery with the ignition off, then check it with the engine running, you should get a higher voltage, if not the altinator is duff and needs a rebuild.

dilo,

99.9% sure that your alternator is bushed. If your car is a '91 then its running a Lucas ACR alternator. In reality they are not worth repairing, you can buy a brand new unit for around €60.
