this is coming up sooner than you think...
21st May 2010, Neumarkt in der Oberpfalz, nearest city is Nurnberg. (
http://imm2010.de/en_GB/Home/Und-wo )
Not to be confused with Nurburg... some 450km to the north west, closer to Ireland and home to a certain race track,
http://www.nuerburgring.de/en/nuerburgr ... track.html
now wouldn't that make a fine spot for the IMOC track day??
How about a visit to the Nordschleife on the return from IMM 2010; i can see the t-shirts already!

You're slow off the mark Keith, KMG has been planning this since last year.
Hence the building of "Die Autobahngeschwindigkeitenvagen"
A fully carbon fiber Mini Marcos shell weighs just 7.25kg.

if, and its a big if, you are heading to college after the LC, the IMM usually falls during college holidays. Roll on IMM 2011 (
http://imm2011.com/ )
oops...
http://www.bernerminiclub.ch/news/IMM-News%206.pdf
plus you could swing by some of the Monte Carlo route...

I mentioned in any earlier post that we had German guests who could give travelling advice. Rainer sent me the following:
Hello Billy
I saw in your forum you are thinging about driving on the Nordschleife.
The Nordschleife is nearly on your way.
I asked googlemaps. If you come via Rotterdam to Europe you have to drive
708km to Neumarkt. The Park in Geiselwind is 103 km away from Neumarkt.
http://www.freizeitlandgeiselwind.de/in ... nc=english
http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&source= ... 128418&z=6
If you want do visit the nurburgring on your return its only 63km more.
http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&source= ... e=UTF8&z=6
Neumarkt -> Nurburgring / Nordschleife -> Rotterdam --> 770 km.
If you plan to drive on the Nordschleife please ask before at the
information from Nurburgring. There is the ADAC-24hour-Race one week
before. In 2009 we drove to the Nordschleife to test some software and
it was closed. So check before if the Nordschleife is open for public
traffic.

For anyone who may be interested, the first 10 entry numbers for the 2010 IMM are being auctioned off for charity on E-Bay.
Here is a link to all of the auctions, there is already considerable interest in the number 1 plate.

If you're driving you would want to allow 3 days to get there and 3 days to get home.

P&O Hull-Rotterdam return, 2 adults, 2 kids, 1 fold-up caravan 544 Euros
Irish Ferries Rosslare-Cherbourg (May 1th), Roscoff-Rosslare 27th 566 Euros
Hull-Rotterdam doesn't include the Dublin-Holyhead part but Tesco vouchers would cover that with either Irish Ferries or Stena.
Hoping Tesco vouchers might cover most of Rosslare-France with Irish Ferries.

According to viamichelin.com
Assuming you are leaving from Rosslare to either Pembroke or Cherbourg:
Pembroke to Neumarkt is 850 miles and includes Dover-Calais ferry or Chunnel
Cherbourg to Neumarkt is 705 miles but going by motorway adds 40 Euros in tolls!!!!!!!!!!
Pembroke to Harwich is 337 miles. Hook of Holland to Neumarkt is 454 miles and no tolls. Total 791 miles
Harwich to HoH is with Stena and covered by Tesco vouchers.
Fishguard to Dover is 340 miles. Calais to Neumarkt is 530 miles. Total 870.

Correct, but it might cost me nothing if I can gather enough Tesco vouchers.
