SPi Idiling
Hi
I have a 96 jap import mini that runs very rich and idles high (1500rpm) also if I'm driving at speed eg up the motorway when I slow down it try's to cut out ( I blip the throttle and the car idles fine). I've replaced the spark plugs and air filter cleaned the throttle body and checked all the connections, I can't see anything wrong. Where can I get a diagnostic done or a fault checker I can buy.

Re: SPi Idiling
id put money on the fault being with the vacum pipes connectors.. four pipes connecting the ECU to the Fuel Trap to the Intake Manifold and another from the intake manifold to the bottom of the air cleaner where there is a air temp sensor and yet another from the air temp sensor to the flap on the air intake snout.
i did mine and the difference is impressive.
where abouts are you?

Re: SPi Idiling
sorted: various vacuum pipes either missing or burnt through, some elbows perished and broken. instead of messing about trying to get replacement elbows and pipe, the motor factor yielded up narrow cotton braided rubber hose @ €2.20/foot.
also noted that Ashgrove are selling 2 types of 20w/50 @ €18 per 5lt.

Keith looked at it today had it sorted in half an hour. Top man. It was just vacuum pipes but I still couldn't see them and would still be looking for them now without his help.
