Re: banded wheels????
afaik they are only illegal if the wheel/tyre sticks out past the wheel arch,
i dont think their is any law over here governing what type of wheels you put on a car apart from them being suitable for the vehicle and its use!?
apart from that, i'd be thinking more along the lines of safety, making sure the wheels are done to a professional standard!

Does someone want to have the honour of explaining what 'banded wheels' are?

Re: banded wheels????
Banded steel wheels are steel wheels that are cut around the circumference usually in the middle of the wheel and a "band" of steel is then cut and welded between the two halves of the wheel.
You should then be left with a wider steel wheel using the standard fitting.
It was done years ago as a means of getting wider wheels for mundane cars when Alloy wheels were only for race cars.

Posting this in case someone might be interested : Taken from Facebook.
MiniWorld Magazine Would anyone be interested in 12-inch split rims from Image if they started producing them again? They need an order of 20 to cover the tooling costs to start producing them again. Stephen

MiniWorld MagazineFrom Harry at Image wheels:
"To make this practical we need to get orders for about 20-30 sets.
If we could do the following styles:
Cast styles RM1 / H.T / RN4
Billet styles 4 / 60 / 107.
The price would be
Cast style price.
5x12 = £120.00
6x12 =£130.00
Billet style price.
5x12 = £140.00
6x12 £150.00
plus carriage and V.A.T."
I really want some RN4s in 6x12. Similar to 6x12 Revolutions but split rim. mmmmmm
Split 10s are very fashionable at the moment, but 12s opens up more brake options
