Re: Classic car insurance

thanks a bunch, now i finally understand but 1 more thing does my dad's broker have to be one that insures a 20+ year old car or would they most likely cover him on anything with like a 26 years no claims on full license?

If in doubt, hit it with a hammer, if that doesn't work....it's an electrical problem!

Cars have to be over 30 years old to qualify for NCT exemption.

Named drivers should not be the primary driver of the car in question.

Accidents and claims by named drivers affect the main driver's policy as well as any future policy of the named driver.

Any modifications to the car need to be disclosed to the insurance company and will probably result in an extra loading of the premium, even something like fitting better brakes will cause a loading on the policy as will fitting a roll cage, alloy wheels other than standard, different engine, different paint, different exhaust etc.

Failure to notify your insurance company of any modifications carried out to your vehicle may invalidate your policy.

You need to be over 25 years of age to be eligible for classic insurance, you must also possess a full drivers licence and have another full insurance policy taken out on another car.

Even then some insurance companies ask for an engineers report.
