Number Plate Legalities

Evening Folks

i have a question about number plates...

i am planning on moving my number plate on te front to the left or right and making it smaller

once i have the white reflective background and black letters and the eu part am i good to go??

is there any particular size i have to keep it??

To get it through the N.C.T you must have the standard size reg plates with all the`mentioned above

As stan said they have to be standard for the nct.So you can use the new ones until the nct and jst change them for that.Or you might meet a tool of a guard who wants you to change them out of badness! :evil:

Do EU plates have to be on all cars or is it just after a particular year. I have an 86 mini with black & silver plates. Do they need to be changed for the NCT?

I think you must have E.U plates until it becomes a classic (30 years) but they must be standard sive. I haven't really heard of anyone being stopped over it tho as I know a good few people driving in Twincams and babycams with black and silver plates so they aren't to pushed about it (in Dubland anyway).

my front plate is pretty small. i get no hassle in wexford! surprisingly

If it is an 86 car then it should have a white front plate and a red rear plate unless it has been re-registered to the newer 86 XX 123 format when it has to have white plates front and rear, it doesn't have to have the blue Euro symbol or the county name in Irish though .

Yeah but me and Macker both in wexford and neither of our minis currently have any front plate.... well mine is in the boot... ha hah a
