Re: HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I see you have 2 locations, was that quote for Shankhill or Shannon ???
You might get a better quote for your country address.

Re: HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And deadly Dave, I would not be able to take on that task on my own and haven't got the money for help!

Re: HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It might be worth asking the difference in price. If it works out much cheaper then it might be worth it. Engine swaps on a Mini are handy enough if you get a complete engine,box,carb.... Also get a full license ASAP.StanO'Toole wrote: And deadly Dave, I would not be able to take on that task on my own and haven't got the money for help!

Re: HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
FBD insured me when I was 18 for 1800, not cheap but was the cheapest I could find and was comprehensive. Im now with axa and they have different policies for young drivers, called student first and motor first, which are cheap but have no priviledges like breakdown cover, windscreen etc. Or you could get insured as a named driver on your mothers insurance although this may be a bit risky.
Re: HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
have just turned 17 and got insured with axa for 1800 fully comp on a 1 litre 84 city.quinn quoted me 3200,so make sure to shop around.

Stan, you could also go to a broker. They can search all the companys for you and find the best price.

Re: HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I don't think they will insure cars over here Mammy
But I'm with Dave on this one, swap it for a 998. That will make a difference.

Re: HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My first insurance was only £648...... Well before the euro had arrived....
Now all these years later after making no claims and having a full licence for more than 10 years with no points i just paid over 3 grand for road risk........
But then that may be because it is a commercial traders policy..........

Re: HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
the best thing for you to do is, put the car in your mams name, insure it under her name and be a named driver.
i'm 20 and i'm still under my mams name since i was 17, my insurance only costs me €800 a year and i live in dublin 24!!
(my first years insurance when i was 17 was only €1200)

Re: HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The gear box was being replaced but the engine has been back in it for a week or so now. Either way, if I was going to go the 1lt way I would just buy and 1lt and sell Stud on, but thanks for thinking ahead!
