WOuld it not just stop the fan from coming on to cool it down ?
And I said, Officer, I didn't want to be drunk in public...I wanna be drunk in the bar. Now last time I checked it was still legal to be drunk in the bar. They threw me into public...arrest them!

Removing the thermostat allows the water to continuously circulate but if you take out the thermostat you will have to use a blanking sleeve.

If you don't use the sleeve then there is excessive heat build up on the cylinder farthest away from the water pump, this happens because the water from the water pump is flowing up through the thermostat housing and out through the top hose, the sleeve forces the water to flow through the head. Also at high revs the water can't flow through the system quickly enough resulting in the pump running quantities of air at times instead of all water, this is commonly known as cavitation, which again leads to localised hot spots in the engine.
