Kingdom County Fair - Sunday May 10th - PHOTO'S

Post by Tommy C »

The Irish Mini Owners Club have been invited to attend the 2009 Kingdom County Fair next Sunday May 10th

The event is taking place at the Ballybeggan Racecourse Grounds, Tralee.

To organize the display all cars will meet at the car park of McDonald's Tralee at 11:30am and then travel in convoy to the racecourse. The organizers have indicated that the entrance fee will be waived for all mini's so its easier to go together!!

Anyone interested in traveling down from Cork on the day should phone Johnny Murphy on 087-9503913, who will be meeting in the carpark of Ballincollig Shopping Centre at 9:30am and leaving for Tralee at 9:45am.

For any further details contact Tommy on 087-6977626

PIM872's steering went a bit wonky this morning when an old problem with worn splines on the reack resurfaced and tightening couldn't sort it.

So when Baker told me he was passing my way, I gladly sat in as passenger for the day in the '00 Cooper. Grand spin down to Tralee to meet the locals. 3 new members signed up as well which was a bonus.

The Kingdom Fair was just a bit different than I had expected as it was very much an agricultural show and while there were loads of tractors, there weren't many cars. Loads of motorbikes there with quite a few for sale. Myself and Johnny Murphy couldn't decide between a Honda CB650 or a CD175. Plenty of Honda 50s there as well.

The craic was actually very good and we spent more time than we'd probably admit to watching the toss the sheaf competition or the terrier racing. We called a halt by the time the donkey derby was starting.

The weather was glorious and that definitely brought out the crowds.

It was a very relaxed day and great fun with the usual slagging among the usual suspects.

Thanks to Tomcom for getting us the invite and to Baker for the spin there and back.

Photos to follow.

What a great day, no need for any radio when i had Billy travelling with me.

Some of the activates taking place were lifted straight from Craggy Island, all we were missing was the lovely girls contest which i beleve actually takes place at the end of August.

The highlight of the day has to have been the "sheaf toss”, with the commentary that would shame any sporting pundit panel. A particular lady in a Subaru Jacket ( No Names) kept looking for the "sheep toss"...

A big thank you to all the Tommys for organising today... Now I know where to find the best jumbo Breakfast Roll in Tralee

Excellent photos, looks like a great day out.

Was that an ex-works Chevette rally car in the line in front of the Minis in the last few photos?

Also, there used to be a Jiffy near where I used to live, must have a look and see if it is still there

Ya Dave it was a great day

The Chevette was a replica built over 3 years by John Moloney from Castleisland

Please check out about that Jiffy we would be very interested
