AOVC CLASSIC SHOW BALLYMENA 27th JUNE
Hi all, it is great to hear you that at least one of your members took advantage of the offer from Stena, it was arranged through the Association of Old Vehicle Clubs in Northern Ireland they are the people who are organising the AOVC classic show in Ballymena, it's the one not to be missed You can get all the info on the show at http://www.aovcclassicshow.co.uk
If anybody wants to camp overnight or for the weekend there is a free campsite adjoining the show again get in touch and I will help to organise it for you or your group, why not come up on Friday and stay until Sunday
The show is expected to be a big'n with over 6 acres of hardstanding for the display plus we have all weather pitches for autojumble and Dermot Flynn is doing his car sales on another.
The important reason for encouraging your mates to join you on the day is that the AOVC have stated that will be giving what money they can to support the Ireland Air Ambulance. For those who are not aware of IAA, they are going to be operating 365 days a year out of Omagh, the helicopter works within the 'Golden Hour' which will offer the capability to cover the following areas: Antrim, Armagh, Belfast. Cavan, Donegal, Down , Dublin, Fermanagh, Galway, L'Derry, Leitrim, Louth, Longford, Mayo, Meath, Monaghan, Roscommon, Sligo, Tyrone, Westmeath, and not forgetting Rathlin Island and the Isle Of Man. You never know when someone you know might be glad to see the yellow chopper coming in to take them away!!!
From a 999 call this fully equipped Helicopter Emergency Medical Service [HEMS] Air Ambulance will be tasked, airborne and en route in under 3 minutes with a fully trained Trauma Doctor and Trauma Paramedic on board. Their expertise will allow them to also determine which is the best hospital to deal with that particular type of injury at that time - whether it is a head, spinal, limb or other. The Air Ambulance pilots will do the rest!
Now, if for no other reason, that cause is worth supporting, but the icing on the cake will be you will have a wonderful time and it's soo-soo easy to get to from the south, just take the A1 to Sprucefield, join the M1, this the great bit you dont have to go through Belfast's busy streets, continue on the A12/M to join the M5/ M3 to Ballymena, if your very unlucky you might have to stop at one set of traffic lights between Newry and Ballymena
Come on lads get your entry in before 20th May to guarantee a £30.00 finisher award, just enter online at http://www.aovcclassicshow.co.uk you can sign up for a free newsletter on the site as well, look forward to seeing you all

Got an application for this show in the post a few weeks ago but can't go as we will be touring Poland then!
This show was cancelled the past 2 years due to bad weather but hopefully with the new venue this year it will be a huge success.

Bring some Sea-sickness pills, not for the ferry, but for some of the A/B roads.
Had a couple of long Taxi drives at the Polish IMM. All the Polish road crews must have brought their Spirt Levels to Ireland with them.

Dziekuje za taka rade Blackse7en!
I've been to Poland a few times before so am well prepared for the roads.
We will be on trains most of the time (I have 75% discount on all European Railways) so we'll be nice and high up off the road this time

Re: AOVC CLASSIC SHOW BALLYMENA 27th JUNE
While this show is helping a very good cause and is in fact having a Mini 50 display along with the other classics, it has a problem with entries being set at pre 1988 cars only. So a lot of the Northern Minis would not be eligible. They were asked to consider a change to their dates to include the later minis but have refused despite the likes of Mondello admitting later Minis for this year only and other clubs using the "future classic name" to allow them in. This show is separate from the Kilbroney Show at Rostrevor.
The Kilbroney show is on this year at Rostrevor and is being run on the 20th June by the Newry and Mourne District Council and the Newry Lions. There is free entry for classic cars although the cut of date is Dec 1990 for cars. Please see ther link below for entries.
