Disconnect the hose from the fuel pump to the carb, put the end of the hose in a glass jar, turn the engine over and see if the pump pumps any fuel into the jar.

check to see if the fuel pipe is touching of the exhaust manifold... happened me before.
if it is it means that the heat from the exhaust (right under the carb) is evaporating the fuel before it even gets to the carb... fuel shortage...
check that. u can just bend the pipe out of the way sort of......

What carb are you running? Is it cutting out at idle or when driving?
Sorry just read the other post, sounds like fuel starvation alright. Have you any inline fuel filters, may need replacing? If your running a HS carb cheak the float chamber for dirt.

not running any filters that i can see, changed the coil to see no good, where do i start looking for fuel stravation, i've taken the float chamber off and clleaned that, checked fuel pump, checked the fuel pipe, seems petrol gets to it but after a few mins she stops, wait for a min and she fires back up

It sounds like the floot chamber is not filling up fast enough.Either the fuel pump is on the way out or the fuel line is partly blocked. Try blowing out the fuel lines ,if that doesen't work it looks like the pump.

Yup, thats mechanical all right, I'll check in the garage and see if I have a spare, down in Cork at the mo, so it might be tomorrow till I get a chance.

still available for the usual sources at less than 20 stg. if you have an LCB or 3:1 manifold then its tricky to change. the single pipe exhaust manifold doesn't usually present a major difficulty.
