Battery over charging

Post by joebe1 »

I have found the gt to be over charging the battery, anyone who remembars adrains gt will remember the terrible smell from the battery, this is why, just wondering what the correct voltage the battery should be charging at without any load eg lights etc think it somethin like 14.3 volts but not sure. Am thinking the cure would be a new voltage regulator?????????????

I assume were talking about a dynamo here.
The voltage regulator can be adjusted to the desired ,should be in the Haynes manual.

You should be achieving about 14.1 - 14.5v without loading at approximate 2000 rpm. Are you running a alternator or dynamo??

Voltage regulator is built into altenators, I thought Aidan changed that altenator. Cheak with him what he changed.Faulty regulators are not that common.

That was a new alternator that I put in that GT Joe.What are the readings at high tickover because I checked it when I put that alternator in and it was around 14.3v which is correct.
