I used "El-Bo Grease" with great success, I started with A K&N Mercury like this,

"El-Bo Grease" ? Is that that very expensive stuff used by Archers to wax their strings? I think its produced by 'Ard Graft and Co.

I did an article for the club mag on this about 18 months ago, it should be coming out soon. 
I start off with Scotchbrite pads as this was mostly oxidisation rather than paint.
