speedo cable

Quick query...trying to fit a speedo cabl;e to a 88 mini..fitted to the dash unit with no problem,,,the problem is i cant get access to remove the old cable from the transmission...can just about reach it with my hand..dont have room to get a pliers in. any one got any suggestions???

No, but it is just about possible to undo it by hand lying under the car and reaching in around the driveshaft, speaking from experience!

If you take out the rad you will get better access to the speedo drive on the gearbox

Some people would bend back the inner wing to gain access to the cable from under the wheel arch.

If you take out engine very easy to remove it. 
There is no easy way, if you have a small vice grips try from top but dont squeeze to much just enough to get a grip.If you cant get grip with hand because it is slipping try and put piece of fairly rough sandpaper around it, with paper folded against cable and fingers might help with grip.If that does not work you will have to go underneath and try from there.

Thanks for the tips.
Didnt fancy removing the rad or the engine..went in via the drave shaft..it worked out first time.
