1977 mini

Post by Wizard »

Hi all
So I aquired my 77 mini 1000 last year and it's gone through a lot of work. It was sitting in a garage since about 1990. Passanger side sill and Door was butchered....lift used In wrong position and went through both. Both floor pans needed replacement....only at the heel. Rear subframe was shot as was boot and bonnet. Both waist ralis on the rear side windows and top of rear quarter panel on passanger side. Front panel also needed changing. So have a lot of that work done myself. So I needed parts and lucky enough I snapped up a 94 1275 mini for parts. Took rear subframe, engine, front hubs and passanger door for mine.
So onto the other parts.
Rear Subframe cleaned and all new parts
Trailing arms rebuilt and pins replaced
New wheel cylinders and shoes
Front subframe also cleaned and painted
New CV boots
7.5 inch discs and new calipers
All new ball joints
New pin kits
Have 10 inch reverse style wheels
Took the 1275 engine Out and decided to use it instead of the 1000.
So full gearbox strip down and rebuild with new baulk rings and new bearings. In the block it's getting new big end and main bearings, fast road cam, new followers, vernier timing chain. Head work done so double valve springs and new retainers, bronze valve guides, stainless valves, harder seats and 3D cut, skim to get 10:1 compression ratio. All head work done by HREs Paul hickey. Also got flywheel and clutch balanced.
So that's as much as I can think of for now but I'll keep it posted

Best of luck with the project. There are a couple of active projects ongoing at the moment on the forum. Nice to see a third underway.

Looks like a good job being done!

Are you doing all the work outside on your drive?

Say it will be fun moving that rotisserie on the gravel lol

Is the front grille fixed? It will restrict access to the distributor.
