Folks

This Sunday meeting at 12:00 noon, the Irish Mini Owners Club is doing the Gordon Bennett route. This is a historic race route created when England introduced speed limits, people came to Ireland to race on our roads.

Meeting point 12:00 mid-day Dowling’s pub Ballyshannon Kildare. Turn off at junction 2 on the M9, heading westward to Kilmead. The car park is at the start/finish point of the route.

Lunch spot will be Emo Court, cafe on site or bring picnic.

See gordonbennettroute.com for more information regarding the history and route.

This was the F1 racing of its time. The route is a figure of 8 covering 104 miles.
Stage 1 - Ballyshannon across to Kilcullen, then down to Carlow. Up to Athy and back to Ballyshannon.
Stage 2 - Ballyshannon across to The Curragh, down to Emo Court (lunch stop) near Portlaoise. Over to Stradbally and back to Ballyshannon.
