Re: Trailer for sale.

It's rated at 650kg capacity so can take a fair load. It runs 12" wheels too :)
It has rear support steady legs which would make it very stable when unhitched.

Some of you may have heard that one of the traders at this years IMM had a bit of a mishap on their journey to over when the timing chain on their car went near Longford, the engine is beyond economic repair an so the car has to be scrapped. Re: Final Drive Ratio's

The 3.44 diff does roughly 17mph per 1000 revs on 12" wheels.
Some Metro City and L models came with a 3.6 diff which would be closer to 16mph/1000rpm.

Re: IMM Ticket

Get a lift with someone, get the bus, bring a non Mini (you just need to park it in the Non-Mini area).
IMM is really about the weekend, Friday to Monday, the Sunday Show will let you see the cars but it wont give you an idea of what the IMM is about.

Re: 1293 Engine Build Advice

You'll probably want to look into a Vernier Duplex timing chain, uprated clutch and diaphram as well as a cross-pin diff.

Re: 1293 Engine Build Advice

I'd suggest you get yourself a copy of Tuning BL's A Series Engine by David Vizard, it has everything you need to know about building a good usable motor.

There is more to engine building than just reboring the block.

Re: 1293 Engine Build Advice

If you go the Weber route you will have to modify the bulkhead and fit an air box. In my opinion you would be better off with a HIF44 with a good K&N filter and a stubb stack. The 266 is a fairly mild cam, possibly more suited to a smaller engine, I'd be going for a 276 or 286 instead depending ...

Great story and fantastic photos.

We did a very similar trip 25 years ago, 7 guys in 2 Minis and a Reilly Elf.
We did the champagne and the GP lap as well :)

Re: 1275 upgrade

If you are retaining the standard engine (cam/head/carb/manifold) then there is no need for any change from the standard dizzy. Unless you are going to mod the engine you won't need anything more than the standard dizzy is going to give you. Only map-able ignition and a rolling road will give you pr...
