Re: Engine doesn't turn over
This is the type I use on the older Minis cos even if it fails, you can get started by just pushing the button. It can also be very handy for setting points etc.
There's probably cheaper than this locally;

Re: Engine doesn't turn over
And failing that, take a screwdriver and arc between the two connections of the solenoid. If that works, it's the solenoid is definitely the problem. There probably won't be many tractor supplies outlets near you Dave, though I may be wrong, but they're handy for supplying the old-style push-button ...

Re: Engine doesn't turn over
Dave, it could be the starter solenoid? Is there a click when you turn the key?
If No, It's a faulty solenoid. If yes, It's probably the starter.

Re: Eastern region bog run
Hope to make this. For anyone who hasn't heard of Lough Boora, it's where part of the IMM 2017 bid film was made that so many of us took part in as part of the IMOC's effort to secure the IMM for Ireland back in 2015 in Lithuania. Club members from all around Ireland converged on Co. Offaly to do th...

Re: IMOC in Irish Vintage Scene this month
Great stuff Darran and good to see the club back in the pages of IVS. I had a Cork vintage club on to me this morning who want to feature Mini 60 at their show in July and want to give the IMOC a plug in Irish Vintage Scene as the club promoting Mini 60 at their show. I've passed on the details to A...

Re: Correct knuckle joint....
I was impressed with the Smooth-a-Ride system supplied by Mini Sport when trying out ZakGT's and Darran's Mpi's (13 and 12 inch set-ups) in terms of driving comfort as basically the cones are much thicker so there's more rubber absorbing road bumps. I fitted it to my own '98 on 12s and while it was ...

Re: Southern Region Minis and Coffee Meet 03.03.19
Having spoken to a couple of people who attended yesterday's meeting, there was a great turnout and a very positive vibe about future events. Looking forward to seeing loads of Minis on the roads of Munster this season.

Re: Mini written off historically - big problem?
It may not be as bad as you think. It was clearly damaged at some point in the UK and the insurance company may have decided that it was cheaper to write it off than pay for the repairs. It depends if there was much structural damage done to the car. A motor insurance assessor (google one in your ar...

Re: Help with insurance!
If you're new to Minis, be sure to have the car checked out as there are a lot of Minis out there with incorrect log books to make them appear older to dodge VRT, NCT, tax etc. An accident with a falsely registered Mini will void any insurance, no matter how cheap you got it. Also, every Mini rusts ...

Re: Another Dodgy Mini
I think a nice Mk3 early 70's Mini looks great. Take Eamospud's '72 850, a super little car that has had twin carbs and a bigger exhaust fitted and it goes like stink. Nothing that can't be put back to standard if required.
Each to their own I know but 6222 ZC is definitely a ringer.

Re: Another Dodgy Mini
6222ZC was probably scrapped a long time ago. The rear seat belt fittings are definitely from a much newer car.
