Re: Irish Built Mini History and Research
All mini shells are RHD and LHD. As well as the wiper holes you have the pedal and master cylinder mounts. Thats why the clocks were in the center . Apart from some brake and clutch pipes all you need to convert an early mini is a steering rack and a pair of headlamps.

Yes , you need to replace the lip as the A panel is only welded at the top and bottom ( to the missing lip) with a fold along the end of the inner wing.

Re: Anyone know the backstory to this mini currently for sale?
I don't know anything about the car personally but looking at the invoice I would think its been lying up for a while and probably bought as a non runner if he only has it 12 months. Is it a Irish re-reg or a uk import? Work may have been done in the uk.

Re: Newb just got an Irish 74 Estate w/ 1275cc swap
Mini looks good with nice mods. I presume you are aware it is a Mini van converted to estate. I think there may have been a factory kit to do the rear seat.
Re: 1971 Mini
You may need to elaborate to support such a statement, many restorations update and modernize minis.
Re: 1971 Mini
The comprehensive folder of photos should give a very good indication of work that was done, maybe post up some of them.

Re: 1983 Mini City
Your roof looks strong enough to do what I did.I made 4 rollers about 100mm long and fitted them to the roof about 150mm inside the two windscreens. I then feed a long rachet load strap through them and under the car and joined the ends. car rotated easy enough.

Re: 1981 Mini City 1000
The drip rail is not the gutter, it sits below the gutter on '70s cars. Personally the holes in the roof I would fill with weld as they will be covered with seam sealer. If your fitting the plastic trim on the gutter that will also cover anything you do.

The two bolts on your handbrake cable bracket also hold on the backplate with a washer between them if I remember right.

Personally I like to use Heritage Panels from either Somerford Minis or Minisport. M Machine panels are pretty good also in less visible areas. You get what you pay for.

Re: 1987 mini
If you only have whats in the picture I would not start buying parts yet. Concentrate on getting the body solid and if that works out than start sourcing the rest.Every good mini starts with a good body otherwise you'll spend more time fixing it than driving it. A good set of doors ,boot and bonnet ...
