VZH540 is listed on motorcheck.ie as a 1965 grey Morris. This yoke is clearly a post-1986 Mini with internal door hinges and the post-86 indicators on the front wings. Nothing 1965 but the logbook. Buyer be very aware!

Is the front grille fixed? It will restrict access to the distributor.

Re: 2000 mini cooper S overheating

Terry, Long time no hear and great to see that you still have the Cooper. I've had a few Mpi's and there are two known problems with overheating: 1. The filler cap on the reservoir not maintaining pressure. A lot of overmarket caps were crap; 2. Part of the wiring loom was upgraded in later years bu...

Re: Brexit.part import

Contact Minispares.

Last month I ordered items from screwfix.ie. Turned out they had to come from the UK. They were held in UK customs from some unknown reason and one month later (this week), I demanded and got a full refund. Moral of story: push Minispares to sort problem or get a refund.

Re: Over flow pipe

Without that pipe, you'll get a whiff of petrol in the car. It should feed down into a hole in the floor of the boot with a grommet around the hole.

You probably really need to get it up to running temperature and see how it is then. Grand day for it. Won't be long getting it warmed up today.

Fantastic project. You obviously didn't wake up one morning and decide to take up such a serious challenge. Have you done other mod builds like this before?

Re: Wicklow Hills Run Sunday 30th May 2021

Great run yesterday. Meant a lot to meet up with so many friends I hadn't seen since pre-Covid. It was gas to see the Munster Mini out and about again though without all the Munster Rugby decals, it's just call the Mini.

Looking forward to seeing the drone footage.

Re: Brexit.part import

I ordered parts worth about STG£100 a few weeks ago. I got a text from DPD UK saying that I owed €30 which included a €6.50 brokerage charge. This had to be paid (by paypal) before they would ship the parts to Ireland. With no Parcelmotel for the time being, we better get used to it.

Re: Clubman Estate Decal / Stripe Colour ?

Sticky Fingers (Martin Cull) is the man for decals. Many of us know him personally from attending IMMs over the years. He will do either standard or custom decals if you want. I used him for the side stripes on my Clubby estate.

With all the great effort (and expense) you're putting into the car, it would be a shame if you couldn't store it indoors properly. Talk nicely to Santa!

The other known issue is the quality of the expansion tank tops. As Woody says, the system needs to be pressurised to work properly.

Re: mini cooper s 2000 overheating

Terry,

What thermostat are you using? Mpi's run hotter than carb Minis. I had overheating problems with my old 98 mpi but it was a common problem with a sensor which was activating the fan. There was a factory upgrade which cured it. The other possibility is that your 20-year-old rad has silted up.
