Sorry Neil, didn't mean to put you under pressure but wouldn't you get more satisfaction out of getting the Marcos ready for MTM500 than lashing out the bones of 30 grand for a new MINI and watching it depreciate. Re: Variety. One of my favourite moments since joining the IMOC many years ago was the...

MTM500
TMG, Metric is all well and good but I only drink pints and my '67 Mini bolt sizes are all Imperial. ZAK wants me to set a date for MTM500 so let's go for Saturday April 28th to be setting off from either Mizen or Malin. We can work out those minor details if there's enough interest to do this. Why ...

MTM500?
Good stuff lads. Adrian aka Cracked ZAK has suggested that we call it the MTM500 and add an extra 56 miles to the 444-mile trip. Sounds good to me. I'm sure that we could find a detour which would make up the necessary miles. Keep the suggestions coming folks. The more interest this generates, the g...

Here's part of my reasoning. In the vintage world which is where my main interest lies, there's been a problem for years with lads who have seriously old motors leaving them at home because it's easier to hop into a more modern classic. The really old stuff gets neglected and never sees the light of...

Neil Cottingham in the UK has already signed up if it's a 1-day event for classic Minis only. Neil and Ruth did all the early events but didn't travel for the past 2 runs. I'm sure the other old reliables could be coaxed out of retirement if the original MTM format is used. As regards the exclusion ...

MTM2007 - Back to Basics?
At last night's Southern region monthly meeting, the concensus was that it would be great to go back to the original format of MTM i.e. M = Mizen or Malin. Some other suggestions were that only classic minis should take part and the most definite spec was that MTM should take place in a single day, ...

SR - Run this Sunday - May 28th
Hi all, apparently there is a SR run this Sunday (a la text from Imelda). Can someone add the details onto the Events page? Also any events coming up in the West and Southeast? Should we be receiving an events list or is the website the only official method of informing members? Billy

Hello Bobby, Having checked with Imelda O'Shea, the chairperson of the IMOC Southern Region, the next scheduled meeting of the SR is on Wednesday June 7th at 8.30pm at the Viaduct Inn out the Bandon Road. Details of IMOC membership along with a printable membership form can be found on the IMOC home...

Hi Leyland, just to clarify, back in the 1998 IMOC AGM in Dublin, Kevin Ring and I proposed the setting up of a Southern Region. Back then, we were the only active members of the club based in Cork. The first new member signed up was actually Anthony Devine with the likes of Dick Mason, Barry Oliver...

Hi John, to be fair to Imelda, my previous comments were not based solely on her input but rather from others who were at the meeting and have called me looking for my views on the matter. As I wasn't at the last SR meeting myself, I can only base my opinions on secondhand info and clearly there are...

OK, obviously I've touched a nerve as everyone seems to be dodging the issue and passing the buck to Imelda. I have already spoken to Imelda and we share very similar views on the future of the Southern Region. Here's what I've heard so far on the grapevine. Feel free to clarify if there are errors:...

Campsites with On-site Bars
Knowing that many of the Eastern Region members are seasoned campers, can anyone suggest a decent campsite that has an on-site bar in the Midlands/Munster. I know Killaloe has one but one of the lads I'm travelling with lives up the road from there so it's no good. If it helps make this Mini-related...

Hello Leyland, I'm afraid I don't know who you are. Do you represent the Southern Region or are you a member of the IMOC Committee? Can anyone who was at the last SR meeting please give their version of what happened? Is there a crisis in the SR? Is everyone moving to a new club? Why all the secrecy?

Southern Region - What's Happening?
I'm amazed that no one has mentioned anything about last Wed's meeting of the Southern Region. For the benefit of those not present, what's happening? Who is still involved? What is the Committee's view? Is there another forum where this is being discussed?

Isn't Science great?
Gee lads, ye've lost me with all this technical stuff. My understanding was that a JGP was something that was attached to the inlet of a turbocharger and the resultant gases induced rapid acceleration in the opposite direction. Woody, is that turbo still in the front garden? Weren't you telling me y...

At last - another Irish Cooper
Hello Roy, I've also got an Irish-assembled Cooper, a Morris '67 998 (PIM 91) built by Brittains in Dublin. The engine number is also 9FD- SAH. There's a photo of the car on our website below. The contact in the Mini Cooper Register is Barbara Alexander. If you're particular about getting everything...

Scurrilous Accusation
Make up your mind. One minute you're offering me vacant committee positions, the next you're trying to charge me twice for membership. Check the club members list and you might be pleasantly surprised at whose name you'll find.
Toodleloo,
Billy
PS Are you going to Durrow or not?

Castle Durrow Classic Show - Sunday April 9th
Will the club be attending the Castle Durrow annual show on April 9th? It was very good last year with several Minis in attendance (including a Spanish Authi) See the link below for more details: http://www.castledurrow.com/default.asp?p=activities Durrow is in Co. Laois, about 2 hours from Cork and...
