Re: subframes - paint or powder
the new rear one I fitted had been only lightly painted, so i gave it a good coat of red-lead, including thinning it out and swirling it around inside the box-sections, then some heavy trawler grade paint which took about a week to dry - finally waxoyl after fitting & assembly. I considered fill...

Re: 1275 upgrade
AFAIK only the copper 'S' and MG 1300GT had double valve springs. Whats wrong with the distributor? Might be possible to get it re-built. the weights, springs & vacuum control the advance curve, specific to each type of engine. eg. the distro for a Metro 1.3 HLE would be quite different from the...

Re: 1275 upgrade
that engine number is coming up as Metro, hi compression 10.5:1 ( 12HA83AA 10.5 : 1 1985/1986 High compression ) - possibly an MG unit. use its distributor, the 998 distro will be wrong. http://www.theminiforum.co.uk/forums/topic/49129-what-engine-do-i-have-engine-number-is-12ha83aa/ https://classic...
