Fan

The very early fans were 2 blade, not very efficient & were soon doubled up to make a 4 blade. These were much favoured by the racing & rally boys & are still used on FIA spec cars. A 6 blade export fan was available also & these can be bought from Minispares. A 16 blade yellow metal...
Whats an average real lap of mondello? The guy in the game did it in 59 secs....
What I mean is Game = simulation. The times I have quoted are actual times recorded in race & my estimate of what a standard Mini will do.

A standard Mini should be about 1.20 - my Miglia racer will do 1.09. A racing historic Lotus Elan 1.03, Lotus 23b & Tiger 1.01.

The game is a simulation.

Update To date I have had a good response, consisting of 22 firm interests declared & 6 conditionals - dependant upon having the car ready. There are quite a few who have not declared. 12 payments received, with a further batch in the post over this weekend. Looks like I will be able to reach th...

All Minis are welcome - this is not a speed event or race, just the opportunity to stretch the legs of your car, irrespective of its speed capability, in a racetrack environment. You will also have a chance to smoop around under some very exciting bonnets & get some tips.

What I mean by roadworthy is that it will pass a a safety examination prior to going on track in respect of the following: steering, brakes, balljoints, not leaking oil & water. The turbo will be fine if trailered up & from what I hear will be a great addition to the fleet. There will be sev...

As I said, it was a story I heard, probably without foundation but originated in North Dublin! need I say more. Anyhow there is a general mistrust of anything country, so Cork & Kerry??? might have something to do with football resullts. Are the wimmin winning too? What next, no hope for Dubline...

Agreed. For a roadgoing 1380 I would recommend an electric Facet solid state pump & regulator, both fitted in boot, close to tank outlet. A filter in the same location will work wonders.

Phoenix Park

The Marcos is owned by my pal Des Quinn & is a great motor. He has my engine & gearbox from last season, so with light weight & good shape, its rapid. I beat him on Saturday but could not catch up on Sunday as I was boxed in from the start for 4 laps. My consolation was that I can lap fa...

rolling road

I have seen that 1970's monster, its ancient technology. To own & operate a rolling road one needs all the correct, modern electronic diagnostic equipment to analyse whats going on with the engine under test. A huge amount of technical knowledge is then needed to interpret the results & make...

997 cooper

Now you have me thinking. It was all a long time ago, 40 years to be exact. One block had the plate reading1000, as discussed, the other had 1000 in the casting. I guess I will have to look it up & revert.

997 engine & box

I took a look at the Ebay ad. This is a 997 cooper engine, high compression. The plate rivetted to the back of the block & stamped 1000 large is the key. The pistons are a flat-top overbore & indicate that the unit has been rebuilt, at least once in over 40 years. The top of the block is poc...

997 engine

There never was a 997S engine, just an 997cc long stroke engine with a pinch bolt con rod. The H is for high compression. I know this engine type well, as my Cooper WZD 345 started life with this engine. The 970S was a very different engine & is quite rare. From memory there were only about 1000...
