Classic Bucket Seats
Not certain what brand these are, but they are very similar to the Speedwell seats from Minispares. They are quite narrow on the hips so may not be for everyone! Perfect condition with the exception of a small minor rip on the back of each seat. There are slide rails on both seats, with home made ti...

Re: Something for Bank Holiday Monday
The Morris Traveller is my mate's car, I was in the blue Mini beside him! Was a nice little show, glad I went. Not getting a chance to meet Paddy and Alec was a let down but there was some recompense when both of them gestured to me to rev the engine as I was leaving and then gave me a big thumbs up...

Re: Mini project 2015
That's a pretty amazing find. Do you know how long he had it?
Were the clocks in it? The speedo is a Cooper item and the tacho looks to be an original Smiths from the 60s. I have the same one!

Re: Spirit of Dunboyne 28th Sept 2014
It was my first time going to this event, and I doubt I'll be missing it again! The whole event had a buzz about it that no other show offers and there were some amazing cars there I had never seen before...never mind the motorbikes! Wasn't sure what to expect from the parade laps, but had an absolu...

Have you pulled any spark plugs to see if they're wet with petrol after trying to start it?

Re: Power steering problem.
From what I know, power steering pump failure is a very common problem in MINIs of that era.
Parts from main dealers are expensive, but reconditioned pumps are available and are cheaper if you part exchange your current pump. These guys sell them so give them a shout - http://driveshaft.ie/

Re: Rebuild - With carbon fibre
A fibre glass door with a polycarbonate window probably weighs only a couple of kilos compared a steel door with glass weighing around 20 kilos. I would personally go for a steel door on a road car though so you have some form of side impact protection...unless you're going to run door bars on your ...

Re: Rebuild - With carbon fibre
Doors, bonnet and bootlid are a straight enough swap. Only things to consider with plastic doors are that they're not usually a great fit and you'll have to use polycarbonate windows. Fibre glass panels are also MUCH cheaper...just another thing to consider.

Complete MED 1380cc Short Motor
This engine was rebuilt just before Christmas 2012 with all new bearings, rings, camshaft etc and has done less than 2,000 kms since - most of which were on motorways. It has had regular oil and filter changes using Millers CTV only and was taken out and freshened up in October last year due to an o...

I love how they reckon Donabate is in Northern Ireland, just outside Belfast! They've already made an apology on Twitter.
Sorry to see such a rare Irish Mini leave our shores.

Re: Needle for spec
Agreed. Westward are brilliant - but, as mentioned, he won't advise on needles. He will only tell you whether it's fueling correctly, under fueling or over fueling. He does not stock needles and generally has no knowledge as to which ones are suitable for your application.

Re: Needle for spec
Rally guys use either Trackday Performance or Westward Engineering. A rolling road tuner will not tell you what needle you need though -they will only tell you whether the car is running too lean or too rich and at what part of the rev range. Any decent garage should be able to do this for you thoug...

There's a free programme called WinSU that should be able to help with needle selection. Google it.

Re: Needle for spec
Lloyd doesn't stock needles. One of the only places in the country that does is McNamaras and they charge a fortune for them!
I have a good few of them so will see if I have anything suitable.
