Is there propper tension on the fan belt ? Is the altinator plug loose ? Ckeck the voltage at the battery with the ignition off, then check it with the engine running, you should get a higher voltage, if not the altinator is duff and needs a rebuild.

Ah, but a drop nose IS a slab front, not a round nose, but there are the obvious differences from the standard clubman front.

Just a note of interest, the rare drop nose estates are just as prone to the rust, and in fact suffer more than the norm especially in the front section and you don't want to be buying panels for that, mine were made in England (one-offs), I know Milton was looking for a pair of drop nose wings for ...

Check the rear doors, they always go at the bottom, and subsequently the rear valance, the channels for the windows are another sponge. Petrol tanks are also prone to the tin worm as is the filler recess.

I think that having harnesses is an instant fail, you'll have to have the standard factory fitted type to pass the NCT.

You don't have to split the box to do the job, but you do need the engine out.

Unfortunatly the forward clutches are at the far end of the auto box, so its an engine out Job. Here is a link to a web site of the job being done on an Austin America, Austin 1100/1300 over here, they were also fitted with the A-series Auto transmission. http://members.tripod.com/austin_america/id7...

oops, bit of confusion, just read my last post and see it has been misdirected, It's Leylands forward clutches that are gone. Peter, I don't know of any specialists for the Automatic Mini, most garages shy away from them. The main problems with working on them is the fact that you need some speciali...

You should check that the selector cable and the transverse rod and see that they are adjusted properly.

Automatics are dependant on oil pressure to change the gears, therefore it is reccomended that the oil be changed every 1000 miles and thet you use 10w/40 oil. When you drain the oil you are only changing the oil in the bottom of the box, there is some oil left in the torque converter but that is on...
