MiniSport Pressure Plates
Hey there!
Anyone have any experience with the lightened MiniSport pressure plates? MiniSpares are out of stock of something I need so I may order from MiniSport but only if the pressure plate is up to scratch.

Can you borrow another carb to see if it works with that one?

Make sure the washer is flattened completely and get the correct sized socket with an airgun if you can!

Thanks, but €60 is my budget. They need a complete refurb so that's as high as I wanted to go.

Brand New Group 2 Arches in White
Hi there!! Bought these a couple of months ago but decided against putting them on the car and opted for different ones. All I've done to them is clean them and i cut the slot out of one of the arches to see how it fits. Other than that they are all brand new in white finish primer ready for paintin...

Love the black roof, and my favourite colour in the Clubman. Very smart looking car on the outside and tidy job so far.

Re: 998 or 1275?......... please help
If you have a 998, changing to a SW5 and a better head it relatively straight forward and you shouldn't need to change a whole lot else. It really depends on what you're after as changing to twin carbs means a new inlet manifold (not expensive). Stage 1 kit is a good start on a 998; includes exhaust...

Re: Acceleration Cut Out
As a general point I would recommend changing to electronic dizzy and get rid of the old unreliable inners. To me it sounds like a badly setup carb. They can be a pain to diagnose because there are a few small parts in the float that can cause issues. You said you have fuel? But at what point? Have ...

Re: suspension recommendation
On a road car yes, but as he said it would be used on track as well. I wouldn't bother with them at all if you're not chasing times on a track either. You also need to have them set every time you go from track to road (or never change them at the cost of tyres) and unless you are able to do this yo...

Re: suspension recommendation
I'm running hi-los all around and i recently added a set of the minispares adjustable rear camber brackets. If the mini is for road use only then I suppose you can't go hugely wrong if you get yourself a set of decent shocks be they Gaz or koni or AVO. The nice thing about adjustable camber is that ...

Re: suspension recommendation
They were a bit dear but I got a set of AVOs for mine and they transformed the car. Very adjustable too. They were €280 if I recall.

UPDATE:
Gearbox has been built by Lloyd. Just need to assemble the engine over the next while and the engine should be good to go.
I also purchased a new LCB, twin carbs are on the way soon along with a manifold and I decided to change my arches.

Re: Cylinder head
Would a simple compression test not rule out the rings? I'd be a +1 for the valve stem oil seals too and do a compression test with a new head gasket to check that. Was there any sign of damage on the old head gasket? Might be hard to see but sometimes they split lengthways between the layers as opp...

Re: Running wrong
Haha, typical mini issues! What's next? I think it's problems like this that make mini ownership so expensive. Something goes wrong and I just replace the whole unit, easy! Then I realise it wasn't that all along and something else needs replacing. Joy!

Have you got some oil spattering on that side of the engine? It's not the most important part on the engine but I would put one on if you have one.

Some very nice engineering going on here. I'd love to have the equipment to do some of this kind of stuff.
Interested in seeing what you get out of it in the end.

Serious effort in that car. Looks the part too. What's the road handling like with that offset and the engine so far forward?

Re: mini parts
Yeah, and MiniSpares tend to overbox everything when they're posting so I have nearly always had to go to the depot in Finglas to collect. It's still far quicker and cheaper than direct delivery.

My 1979 Mini Clubman
Many of you know my clubman from over the years. I've joined up here again and I have a few updates and things that are happening at the moment. To remind folk this is what it used to look like: http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/kk274/Dilogoat/Clubman/MIniSideOriginal_zpsa36f0a13.jpg And after quit...

Spotted a very strange Austin Cooper S with Mk3 doors and generally an odd finish in Graham Walker car sales in Harold's Cross. Been there for a while alongside a very nice Mk2 Golf.
