I did it last week for the mini I bought a couple of weeks ago. Just as well, because it'll make it harder to sell cars that have run out of tax, because back tax will be due I think.

Nice work. How did you manage to track down the owner? Did she set you back much?

Re: MiniSport rims...Will they fit Austin 1990?
Thanks. And now to sell the other ones. Recommend a quick sale price? free is always a fairly quick sale price!! what have you got, condition?? 12" mini lites in white. I would say they could do with a refurb. Tyres have plenty of thread too. White just doesn't suit the new colour scheme. http...

MiniSport rims...Will they fit Austin 1990?
I'm looking on MiniSport and thinking of putting a new set of rims onto the Austin 1990. May sound like a silly question, but will they fit? I haven't decided on a set, but because they only have radius and width, i'm assuming I can pick any set and they will fit. Am I right? I may get a set of 10&q...

Re: Hazard Question For WOODY :)
UPDATE: Dropped up to Mini Fix for a replacement flasher unit. I decided to buy the heater unit too, so that would be done. Looks like I will have a spare soon. The flasher unit was giving the same problem  This time, I drove the Mini to Mini Fix, but not until after I installed the heater uni...

Re: Fog Light Switch Problem?
I'd generally use Somerford Mini, they may be slightly more expensive for parts then others but are very good to deal with, stock everything and quick to post out (order Monday, have Thursday). We have learned in the past that some of the UK Mini suppliers will take your order and money but won't a...

Re: Fog Light Switch Problem?
The second wire to the switch is for the bulb inside the switch that illuminates when it is turned on. NCT fail if inoperative. Just get a ground wire from somewhere on the body. The reversing switch wire, unless it is broken right at the switch on the side of the gearstick housing, can be easily r...

Re: Fog Light Switch Problem?
Update: Repeaters are working and so is the fog light. I will be trying a replacement relay, hoping this will sort the hazards. I think the reverse light sender is broken. under the car, whereabouts the gear shifter is, there are two wires, one was snapped and was short. Where is the best place to g...

Re: Fog Light Switch Problem?
There should be a black wire on the other side. Fog light only works when main lightswitch is on. The fog light is now working, but there is still just the one wire on the one side as seen in the photo. The problem was a bad connection in the boot. Never have I had so many electrical problems

Re: Hazard Question For WOODY :)
Is it the same story with the indicators (as distinct from the Hazards). If so then i would guess that one of the live indicator bulb feeds is shorting out on the bodywork somewhere.....if not then it could be the the hazard unit itself. OK, let me clean that up. The indicators are working fine and...

Hazard Question For WOODY :)
OK. So the repeaters are working and after cleaning a fuse connector behind the carb, we have the hazards working....kind of. The signal is very weak and only the front end is working at all. When wires are removed at the hazard switch, and power is cut from one side, the hazards on the other side a...

Re: Fog Light Switch Problem?
Need to clarify ,no indicators on the right (front ,rear, side and dash) are working from either the indicator switch or the hazard switch but all the left is working fine ? Fog light is proberbly bad connection inside lamp. Check for 12 volts on the purple in courtisy light. This was the case, but ...

Austin Mini 1000 engine removal : What Work To Do?
The Mini will be visiting the body shop fairly soon and will be getting a full change colour repspray. The engine will have to come out for a thorough job, so I was wondering what I should have done with the engine, while it is out of the bay. If someone could put together an order list of what I sh...

Fog Light Switch Problem?
My brother in law (engineering student) is doing some alectrical fault finding on the mini as I speak. The horn is now working :) However, the drivers side repeaters are still not working. When the hazards are turned on, the left repeaters work and this shows on the dash, but the light that should f...

Thanks Keith. That just might come in useful. I was thinking of sourcing an old dash and covering in vinyl. I also want to add a ciggy lighter socket for power.

Re: Dash Upgrade. What's involved?
Thanks Marcos. You seem to be on hand to answer all my questions. I would like to build one, but I would never get round to it. If you know of any going, i'd be interested. I won't need the radio slot, as this is built into the centre console I have, but I will need the holes for the vents on the si...

Re: Dash Upgrade. What's involved?
There are only the standard clocks in there at the moment. I'm not sure what I would want aside from a volt meter and a clock to tell the time tbh. I will have a browse and see. I just wanted to know what would be involved. I definitely want a door for storage. Here is the current lay out pffffft. h...
