It's amazing what a new battery can do.
Re: Nct fail?
I have a 91 civic and all they do is rev it to make sure there is no smoke. They don't put the thing on the exhaust for emissions.
Re: Nct
Just give the car a good smart looking over and sort any obvious things that it may fail on, i.e lights, wipers, tyres. Then just run it through and they will give you a list of things to fix. Unless it passes first time that is
Re: Nct fail?
I've never had an issue with NCT in Drogheda and presume thats where Benny was tested. Any time they failed my car it was a legitimate fail that was sorted and passed. Bennys problem is a legitimate fail eventhough not all inspectors may pick up on it(he was proberbly trying to get at the rear belt...
Re: Nct fail?
Zakgt had this problem with his Cooper. The problem is the amount of play in the seat movement. The legs at the rear of the seat tend to compress the carpet and even dent the floor allowing for some movement before the lock engages with the bar. We put a plate on the floor at these points and it tig...
Nct fail?
Alright lads how are things? My father's 1988 mini was in for an nct this morning at 9 so I went with him for the spin. The fella had it in for ages and was looking in every single nook and cranny and finally came out with a fail sheet. He failed it on the seats being "insecure" and he sai...

Re: Intro to me and my secret project with a 5 month deadlin
The twincam is really nice. I don't mean to be nosey but is there much money to be made in importing cars nowadays?

I will keep that in mind. Thanksmgb1978 wrote:Normally over 25's. But try Autoline, Carole Nash, etc.
Probably better to ask a few brokers who specialise in classics, rather than the main Irish Insurers directly.

Re: Classic insurance on a year 2000 mini?
Sorry for hijacking the thread but my dad has an '88 mini should he expect to get a decent quote on a classic policy when it comes time to insure? I know this is a vague question but bear with me.

What wheels to choose?
Well lads. The fathers mini build has got to the stage where we are looking for wheels but we don't know what ones to go for. There are so many replicas out there and we don't want shitty wheels. He wants minilite style wheels but what brand etc he doesn't know. My question is what would be some of ...
