I use Kennedy Steel there in Palmerstown 01 6260399, they do sheet steel and plate and if needed they can cut, bend and fold.

Re: Welding...help needed ASAP
I have a mig welder but it is not that portable especially with the bottle and unless you have a plug near by it doesn't like running off a lead.
Your more than welcome to it but you will need to buy a roll of 0.6mm wire and a tip to suit as i'm running 0.8mm and 1.0mm, it may do the job but not 100%.

Re: Zcars r1 mini
If you are looking to build one for a track day car then you should be ok but if you are looking to put it on the road then good luck. I looked into buying one in the UK in 2009 but couldn't get any insurance company to insure it here and the paperwork for the VRT was a joke and that was before the ...

Re: Mini Tow-bar
I was onto my steel supplier today and they have 3 lenghts of 50x30 box iron left, he thinks they have been there for the last 10 years + as he is there 10 years and has never sold a lenght.
Is there any body around the D24 area that I could trial fit a towbar when I get 1 together ???

Re: Mini Tow-bar
Never got around to it.   50mmx30mm box iron is not readily available anymore and I dont have a mini to see if 40mmx40mm or 50mmx50mm box is a suitable replacement. Another thing is that I have no way of testing the towbars first and if there was a fault with one of the welds, etc...

Re: electrical problems
I'm no expert on electrics but for all those to be gone at the one time and all fuses ok, it would lead me to look at the earthing point.

Re: updates of my mini
The mini is looking good but the pickup is still a sorry sight from what I can see
Re: DOE test
Not if its a commercial vehicle.
I have a van (not a mini) that is insured commercially and is taxed privately (don't ask, like that when I bought it) and the NCT won't touch it, I get it DOE'ed but it needs to have a weight cert before they will DOE it.

Re: DOE test
Phoned my local DOE centre
Re: DOE test
What year is it ???
I enquired about the pickup I had and once it was over 25-30 years it was exempt.

Don't think it has seen a wet day, did you see where the ballast units are fitted for the HiD lights ??? Plus the alternator is not in a good place for spray off the front wheel.

At first I thought it was belong to smur89, as they was talking about getting new tyres in Inchicore and this one has new tyres, its the same colour aswell wit...

Things you have to resort to, to keep your mini safe
I would say the owner, he or she drives a bus and it is in great condition.

Re: 1275GTi conversion
Aiden, love the motor so far. The only thing that bugs the s**t out of me is the s**tty welding in photo 5, you pay out big money for a front subframe that has been modified and the least they could do is tig weld it, I know it won't be seen but thats not the point. Alot neater welds could be done w...

Re: Air powered tools and welders
An impact driver is a heavy tool on air so in my opinion you would need to be looking at at least a 150 - 200 litre compressor, if you look up donedeal you can buy a new 200lt one for between €350 - 500. I bought a Portamig 215 mig welder last year as it had the widest range on the amps that I could...

Re: Air powered tools and welders
I know a mini is small but its not that small to fit onto the table of a laser cutter. http://www.google.ie/images?hl=en&source=imghp&biw=513&bih=313&q=laser+cutting+machine&gbv=2&aq=1&aqi=g3g-m1&aql=&oq=laser+cutting&gs_rfai= A disc for cutting s/s is only 1m...
Re: oh dear
The purple one would be handy on the MTM if you stopped off somewhere for a picnic, wouldn't need a table
