Re: Running a lockup/industrial unit

It's completely down to what and how much you're welding. Cars in general are light duty for big welders so if it's on a hobby basis I doubt you'd notice a massive increase in the bill from the welder.

In a garage compressors are worse than welders since they are used a lot more.

Re: Welders ?

Mig is the easiest to master and probably the beat for cars. You want a 150-180 amp one with gas. Gasless is IMO absolutely terrible in comparison. Clarke have a good name in the hobby world but if you can get a good second hand Miller you're set. A 10-15 year old Miller will outlive any of the hobb...

Re: 79 Swift Gti Conversion.

Just that it's galvanized and looking at the benders in the background of the pics. You wouldn't bend anything strong enough to use as a subframe without a hydraulic setup or heat.

Re: First time buyer!

If it was converted in England it's legit, if done here it's not. A late 90s car could never end up with an old Irish plate regardless of where it come from and to get an age related plate in the UK it would need to be a brand new unused shell with pretty much every part of the original car bolted ...

Re: First time buyer!

I have a solid 2000 cooper here that's well within your budget. I have a couple of small jobs to do to it (ball joints and shocks) so was going to put it up for sale in a few weeks

Nice but CRVs do 3600rpm at 70mph on 205/70/15 tyres so god knows how that sits above 50mph on 13s

This is also covered in the haynes with pics. The sit down and have a good read routine service chapter dude none of it is overly complicated and tbh you're better off doing this sort of stuff yourself.

Re: c02 emissions

It used to be €315 not €250.
When emmissions based vrt came in the catagory A (cars) minimum came down to €280. I doubt your mini will fit in the €280 bracket though.

Have a read through this

Re: My 81 mini

It depends on the policy. I have an axa policy that covers the cars if they have nct or not (stated in writing lol) asked for it so there wouldn't be a problem bringing cars to get tyres or to the test centre etc.
