Mini ownership - is it a runner?

Due to an ever growing family I’m way off where I was many moons ago when I first posted on this site. But I'm back. I’d say I’m at least 6 months off being in a position to purchase, as I need to get everything organised - money, the OK from the wife who I haven’t mentioned it too, that sort of thi...

Re: Law Question

This may be a little late but it might just be worth taking the hit on the balance, the last thing you want is him coming back in 6 months claiming to have a sore back, and dragging you through the courts for a few years, and yes he would probably get a payout. Just my 2 cents worth.. :(

Re: breakdown cover

As far as I know it’s no longer optional for insurance companies to sell you insurance without breakdown (tow truck recovery) cover included. They are mad advertising “Free breakdown cover” – but it’s included in every policy, TPF&T too. Think it has something to do with it no longer being legal...

Re: Mini Raffle in Limerick

Well, it's not Thomas St. Popped into to see it a few minutes ago. Very nice. Green with a white roof. It's a Cooper, leather interior. Didn't open it up or crawl under it, but from what I could see it seemed to be in near showroom condition. It had a Northern Irish Minis sticker on a window. (hope ...

Re: Pricing, more to the point costs.

Yes, doing the work myself would be the long term plan. But, at the moment I'm not in a position to work on one, and at this minute, even buy one. So I'm basically working out the costs at this stage. On the plus side of things though is that a house move will be needed soon, and when that happens I...

Pricing, more to the point costs.

I got a bit of a fright the other day when I saw the thread on the prices of a re-spray. Had never thought that it would cost in the region of 2 grand*. So that got me thinking, how much should everything else cost. Rust, how much to put right? Engine, what if it needs to be reconditioned? Same with...

I was thinking 10. Keeping them small. Is there any good reason to go larger?

Tyres, Tyres, Tyres…

Oh, and wheels. I’m still in research mode, with an eye towards purchasing. But one of the things I can’t seem to see is where to get tyres? It’s one thing to go off and buy a new set of superspeedy wheels, but where are the options for tyres? And what’s the most (best) common tyre size?

Re: Bargain ???

hello, I've been looking at this too. Bit confused by the "Rust breaking out in spots so in need of minor repair, would suit enthusiast " - is this code for needs a bit of work, but shouldn't cost that much if you know what your doing, and have the time to work on it?

Re: Insurance Help

Interesting stuff, but can you use the no claims from your main car for a different, 2nd, policy? For a 93 cooper it's ranging from 249 to 950, with the only difference being the NCB.

a 99 - Flake included??

Hello, is there any benifit to buying a 99 reg Mini over a 98? One of the lads I know is saying that the 99s had a total bmw revamp safetywise?
Is there any truth in it?

Re: A mini Question (ok - a long one or two)

First off I just want to say thanks to everyone for contributing. I think my plans of having a low budget, low stress hobby have been sunk for the time being. But in saying that it’s better to find out beforehand. So, the plans as they stand are to up the budget, push back the time frame, and get so...

A mini Question (ok - a long one or two)

Hello one and all. I’m very very tempted to step into the Mini world but have a million and one questions I was wondering if any of you could shed some light on. 1 – The initial cost of a mini seems to be 1000 euros upwards. But this is just the start. I’ve seen some amazing looking minis on sites, ...
