Re: MTM 2016 Date announcement.
Is there a plan to run the cars in separate groups as obviously the majority of binis I imagine will have more grunt than the classic minis? The proposed date also clashes with the cork 20 rally too, so people could be attending that too and added traffic around cork in general . I know no date ever...

Re: Car off the road
Also, if the insurance you are trying to get is purely for the car in the garage, I've heard that some insurance companies include garaged cars in the policy. Never looked into it properly myself, but might help you out all the same.

Re: Car off the road
It all depends if the car is in your name or not. If it is: As you say you have the VRT receipt, I'd say your best bet would to be ring Shannon and ask them to reissue a logbook for it. Provided you were/are the official owner this should be out to you in a maximum of two to three weeks normally. If...

Re: original floor coating?
You can get tubs of it and paint it on from Co ops also.
It's pricey enough aroun €30 a litre I think the last time I checked.

http://www.irishminis.ie/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=9714&hilit=998cc+engine+rebuild Some tips for removing a flywheel in there from the lads on here. Mainly: 1. Make sure you have the retaining bolt removed. 2. blowtorch is your friend 3. get a gang to help crack it simultaneously! I'd highly...

Re: Compete Newbie looking to enter the Mini world!
I'd be wary of the 90s model shown. Someone that states 'just serviced ,lots of monet just spent , needs nothing' and then answers the most basic mini question 'any rust' with 'small bit around the indicator and under the headlight that was touched up a long time ago' makes me sceptical from the out...
Re: Welders ?
My welder is a Clarke one. Think it's a 161TM Turbo...or something along those lines.
It's three phase power. Seems to do the job fairly well so far.

Re: Welders ?
Hi Tintin, For my welding applications, I bought a Clarke MIG (Metal Inert Gas) welder. I think they are now also known as MAGS welders. You can either get small gas bottles that are one use or you can get a refillable bottle ( You can either rent these bottles or buy them outright and just pay for ...

Solar Roadways

It can be used to provide different...

Re: Acceleration Cut Out
Thanks again for the replies guys. I got another carb from a 998 that was already set up and running. It starts the car and now runs well. At first though, it wouldnt start as there was air being drawn in where the carb connects to the manifold..the nuts just werent tight enough. Also, I just put in...

Re: Acceleration Cut Out
Hey guys, Still no joy. The needles are both ABB. I have two carbs at the moment, one that I took apart and rebuilt with an SU rebuild kit so no dirt or anything in the bottom of the bowl as I cleaned the entire thing out with white spirits. I tried the other one and it seemed to run lovely and then...

The two I have are the same type and same length so I'd imagine it should be OK.

Re: Acceleration Cut Out
Still no joy. Took the carb off. Needle didnt look the best so I put in one out of the same type carb. I noticed the manual choke cable was a bit short so cut it back to allow the cam to rotate fully. This was stopping the bottom section moving up and down.(part that connects to the jet). Put it all...

Re: Acceleration Cut Out
Thanks for the reply lads. There's brand new contacts and points in it. Spark is really strong now with it. Timing is definitely set right. Definitely the correct needle for the carb. Must check the flatness to the piston. I did have an air leak by the manifold to exhaust bracket. I removed the exha...
