Re: Condensation and tinted windows
You could have a leak or you could have normal condensation due to the weather, if its not a leak then you need to get the moisture out of the car. Warm air holds more moisture than cold. When it hits a cold surface below its dew point (i.e. the glass) it condenses and the water is removed from the ...

Re: 1275GTi conversion
€60! excellent, I guessed it would be twice that, might have to look at getting my own done, instead of spraying them.
Thanks!

Re: Rust Bullet
I'm replacing any panels or pieces that are rusted anyway but was thinking of spraying this stuff on before getting painting done, just for extra piece of mind.

Blocking up vents?
What's the general consensus on blocking up the vents?
I found a large area of rust around one of mine and wondering whether to repair it or just block it up?

I found a rust hole in the panel under the scuttle panel, is this part of the scuttle panel itself or is it another part?

Thanks

Re: Jacking Points
Thanks for the info. I was thinking about fluids alright but never thought about the mounts. No its not special nor will it be, but how else would you recommend jacking it up without the original jack and points? Carry around a trolley or bottle jack and use at the subframes? I haven't got any pics ...

Jacking Points
I've the new inner sill and door step in place and was going to fit the jack point when I noticed the hole in the outer sill and jack receiver are not an exact fit. Is this space or gap around the jack point supposed to be there?Does it double as a drain hole, or is there a filler piece I need to ge...

Re: Snow sock or chains ?
My dad was telling me that years ago he used to cut blue rope into lengths and tie it arcoss the wheels like snow chains. He said it worked, when you got to tarmac it was soft enough on tyres and it wouldn't scratch alloys.

Re: scraping/squeeking noise
How loud is it? Does the sound change when you brake? When you are moving and you can hear it, lightly press the brake. Enough so the pads make contact but also not enough so you keep moving. See if it changes. Does it happen only going straight or only turning or all the time? When it happens, is i...

Re: BMW/ MINI RESEARCH
why they might pick a BMW over a Merc Well I think, a BMW is a car you drive, a Merc is a car you are driven in. BMW has something in it for the driver, its more fun than a Merc. A Merc is big and comfortable, less driver involvement if you get me, that's why I think it suits older drivers. or a Mi...

Re: BMW/ MINI RESEARCH
Hi Anna, just wondering. You mentioned you are looking to incorporate BMW and Mini in a comparison to other luxury car manufacturers. By this do you mean the current model of mini? as appose to the classic? because the classic would not be a luxury car. It seems like a strange comparison.

Sorry to hear that, bad luck. People are always diving into that lane, after the lights.
Did you damage the car in front of you? Your insurance will have to cover that if you did irrespective of the insurance on the person hitting you.

Re: Long term storage
To be honest if its going to be out every fortnight if not sooner for a spin, all I would do is disconnect the battery. The rest is overkill IMO.
If the car can't sit for 2 weeks then I think it has bigger problems.

Re: diagnostic machine
Did an engine management light come on, on the dash? Are mini’s OBD2? I have a generic fault code reader, tried it on loads of makes and models and it works, except (so far anyway) for BMW and Daewoo. It is only a code reader so will only read if the ECU has stored a fault, it cannot read real time,...

Welding Joints, butt weld lap joint....what do you do?
Just wondering what is the better option for welding, not talking about replacement panels, but for sheet metal do you use a butt weld or recess the remaining existing edge and overlap by a few mm?

Re: Mini Fix - Do they sell panels?
Hi, thanks for the replys.
I'm in Clondalkin and at the moment looking for a drivers side wing and passenger side door step for a '92 sprite.
But i'm sure as it develops i'm sure i'll be looking for more stuff too if you supply them.

Mini Fix - Do they sell panels?
I've heard mini-fix is a garage specialising in mini's however i was wondering do they also sell body panels?
I know the obvious answer is to ring them but I only have a business card with a mobile no. and I dont want to be ringing it on a bank holiday Sunday.
Thanks
