Re: 2007 mini one engine problems, help!

I don't think any MINI had a Timing Belt (apart from the 1.6 diesel from '08 to '10, which used the Ford/PSA TDCi engine).
Apart from that OP your chances of a refund are slim....if they fix the car they are not obliged to give you anything. And they are more than aware of this.

Thanks Woody. I should have the fuel relay Box here somewhere....photo now changed
I won't be going to the AGM , but if you know of anyone from the Limerick area heading up we could organise something.

Re: Nct

Really depends on the severity of the leak and the mood of the Tester (a lot of them will forgive a Mini for a small oil leak, it's purely up to them if it fails on this or not). If it's something easy enough such as a gearchange seal then I'd do it pre test....if not and it's not literally dripping...

Re: Nct

Just to let mini owners know that the guards will now have nct details on the patrol cars with the anpr systems so it will flag if you drive by. It is 5 penalty points in Ireland for no nct, worse out of all the points systems. Remember to book it in and carry the confirmation with you. You risk ge...

Re: Compete Newbie looking to enter the Mini world!

Also you mention using the car as a daily driver. Most (if not all) Insurance companies won't touch anything more than 20 years old. This then involves ringing around Brokers and basically getting a classic insured as a main car....not impossible, but I'd concentrate on late 90's cars if I were you....

Re: Classic insurance with no other car in my name!

Normally over 25's. But try Autoline, Carole Nash, etc.
Probably better to ask a few brokers who specialise in classics, rather than the main Irish Insurers directly.

Re: Classic insurance with no other car in my name!

Your cheapest option is to get the Missus to take out a policy with Autoline (with you as a named driver). I wouldn't worry too much about the mileage restriction  . NCB doesn't come into it as you don't build up a NCB on a classic policy. Only other viable option is to ring a few brokers and ...

Re: Inspection location on clutch/flywheel side

The marking you are looking for should be on the flywheel, not the clutch. You normally need a mirror to even see the TDC mark so I would'nt worry too much if you can't see it. Also not all cars have this mark stamped on the flywheel, so you could spend ages looking for something that isn't there. e...

Re: Insurance question

At this stage it would seem that your best option is just to buy (and insure) a cheap 1lt car ('90's micra/ Seicento, etc ?) and then take out a classic policy on the Mini.
You would probably pay less for both policies than insuring the Mini as a daily.

Re: Insurance question

Try autoline.co.uk they are in northern Ireland but will insure cars in the south. campionins.com might also be worth a call. Both of the above are brokers, rather than insurance companies. This can often mean that they would have a better picture of who exactly will insure you. It does seem to be g...
