thats annoying i just spent my last 30 euro on a ballasted coil :/ ill post up the engine number later on my car is up at college!! really appreciate the help

If you dont have a ballast make sure your coil is not Ballast, There are values in the Haynes Manual to confirm this AFAIK. Youll be blowing coils all the time if your using a Ballasted coil on a non Ballast system. If you cap is worn, replace the rotor too. Does your dizzy have electronic points? ...

Minis don't use an inline resistor, its a resistive cable pink with a white tracer and is connected between the ignition switch and coil. If the engine is running this cable is ok. The wire had a big red thick inline resistor on it, you may need to peel back some of the insulation on the loom to see it. Unfortunatly I cannot remember how to check it for sure, Do you have a multimeter? Id be having a poke around with that, haynes may list the values. :D so its a wire with a re...

Is the starter turning the engine over on the key ? ths starter is turning over What engine is it? one of those wires is probably the ballast resistor to the coil, it could have a short in it , I cant remember for sure but if you have a ballast resistor before the coil,I think the voltage to the co...

i its a 91 metro lump... it has the electronic ignition so ill test the coil.. i tried letting it heat up but it didnt make a difference so i dont think its moisture..

its just excessive that the db is so low and the nct is so expensive!! if they halved the price then maybe it would be fairer but they just want money money money!! and what about ppl who have minis that dont hav the time space or money to be messing with the carb and exhaust every year let alone ev...

im pretty sure the jet and the small bimetallic gizmo is knackered?? apparently they get worn out after 55000 miles or so? ive ordered a BDP needle (minisport recommendation) and repair kit for it and ill borrow a gas analyzer and set it up properly!! i hope i haven't wasted money though??? the read...
