Re: 1979 Clubman restoration- Almost there.
Thanks for that lads. Its great to get the acknowledgement from guys who know these cars as well as you do. I have to admit that the last few bits to be sorted out took the longest and there is still a few bits of minor tidying to be done inside the car. For example, I put a crank shaft oil seal in ...

1979 Clubman restoration- Almost there.
Hi, In February 2008, I started out on the restoration of a 1979 Mini Clubman. I kept a restoration thread going on Mini Resource showing the trials and tribulations of the work. Follow this link to view the full thread......http://www.miniresource.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=28731 Anyway, the pr...

Re: Car Transporter
Hi Gareth,
I was hoping to locate one not too far from where I live (around the midlands) so that I wouldnt have too far to go to pick it up and drop it off.
regards,
Brendan.

Called into local Aviva branch today. €150 for 3rd Party or €164 for full Comp including "breakdown" and "windscreen". Went for the Comp Policy. Will stick 12 months road-tax on it from next Monday. If the classic car tax is still €48 then that works out at Tax and insurance for ...

Re: Classic Car Insurance
Thanks for that folks.
Will start the ball rolling with Avernia and then try First Ireland and a few of the others.
I just need the most basic cover and dont really see restricted mileage as an issue.
thanks again for the advice,
Brendan

Classic Car Insurance
Hi all,
can anyone tell me which insurance companies offer classic car insurance policies.
Also would you have any idea how much a 1979 Clubman would cost on such a scheme ?
thanks,
Brendan

Re: scam
The new regulation exempts cars first registered prior to 1st January 1980 from undergoing annual NCT. The introduction of this set date (1/1/1980) paves the way for changes to the regulations governing VRT and Roadtax. The reduced VRT and road-tax for 30 year old cars based on a "rolling year&...

Re: Chice of Number Plates
I have seen photos of quite a lot of the 60s and 70's British race/rally cars with stick on reg. numbers on bonnets and front panels. MG, Triumph, Jags, Minis etc.
I am not sure about the legality of running a road car with reg. numbers displayed like that.

Re: Chice of Number Plates
Thanks for that link Steven. Good to have it. Clubman, the colour is an old Fiat/Alfa shade called Giallo Ginestra. It was reintroduced a while back on some of the "sporty" cinqacentos, puntos GTs and Fiat coupes. A few Lancias as well. They call it Broom Yellow. I liked it because the sha...

Re: Chice of Number Plates
THanks for that lads, looks like its black and silver then. I kinda thought square at the front myself as well. The only concern I had was that it might look a bit like those plates that are fitted on the back of some of the Jap import cars that you see around. But looking at your Clubman Macker I t...

Re: Chice of Number Plates
Thanks for that Miniman,
yeah, I was thinking the same about the black and silver. Are there different styles of black and silver? Raised letters ? etc .
Also was wondering about a square plate on the front ? Would it be legal and how would it look ?

Chice of Number Plates
Hi Folks, I will be buying number plates for the mini soon. The Reg, Number is 79WH583. I was wondering whether: 1. What style of plate (Colour, size, shape, lettering) is legal on a car with reg. number such as that. 2. Which stlye/colour do you think would look best on this: http://i143.photobucke...
