Went back to basics with the knowledge kieth had givin me .spent about a half an hour cleaning all the ignition parts with sandpaper and wd added some fresh petrol and put in the new battery and off it went first key turn,was delighted thanks for all the help now to try and get the exhaust clamp on ...

Thanks again for the replys I am getin a spark albeit weak just a question though should I see a spark coming from the points or what is their function or is it the coil that creates the spark

Thanks for the reply it's an 83 mini 1000 was back at it again tonight fresh petrol fitted and it's definetly getting to carb ,cleaned the sissy cap rotor arm and points but still no joy ,I've ordered new points condenser sissy cover and rotor arm and will try it again it's doin my head in now

Starting a mini

Hi I'm getting back into my minis so tried to start one tonight , was getting the engine to turn over fine but couldn't get it to start . Checked to see if I was getting spark but their was little or none any ideas what to look out for thanks

exhaust problem

i have a slight blow in my exhaust on my leyland its where the stainless steel meets the manifold ive spent two hours thisevening again at it ive put two different clamps on it with paste and no paste and still no joy anybody got any easy ways to fix this or would it be best to fit a lcb

this car startedme into minis i seen it at a show in the stand house in the curragh about ten eleven years ago and about a month later bought my first mini would be great to see it back on the road

ive painted my roof with rattle cans and have to say it turned out great its a gloss black but iwould like it shinier do i need to lacquer it to give it a shine or do i leave it

tempreture gauge for center clock

hi i bought a 3 clock center clock off woody and started fitting it yesterday i have speedo working oil prsssure working and all the lights on all 3instruments ,how do i get the temp gauge wired up my car is an 83 leyland and has never had one fitted ,i have a sender orderd .i checked my dads hornet...

top dash rail on an 83

i changed my dash recently for the center binacle type but when im driving the car i cant see the top of the speedo as the top dash rail gets in the way,would this dash rail be original to the car its an 83 leyland 1000 thanks john

i had a problem with my original motor it wouldnt move the arms and the motor body was very very hotluckily i had a spare and replaced it and it worked for a week or two now my spare one is acting up its only working the odd time ,move the wiper arms and theyl wipe a few times and seize again ,could...

Thanks for the replys connection on the solenoid could be a runner yesterday i changed clutch slave cylinder and flexi hose so will definetly check that tomoro night

had a good and bad day with the mini changed the clutch slave cylinder and hose and got the car back driving again left to bring the mini home and found a load of electrics not working 1 no indicators 2no hazzards 3 no sidelights but had dip beam and head lights 4 no rear lights 5 no break ligfhts 6...

hi ive just insured my two minis my 83 leyland with axa third party fire and theft with windscreen cover on a classic car policy for 193 euros my 92 zeemax was with axa till the renewal came in at 550 euros done the usual ringing arround and tried tesco and got it down to 259 euros third party fire ...

great looks like im in for a long wait so il give them a ring on monday realy only badly stuck for wheel nuts lock nuts and battery box if anybody has some tapered whel nuts for ultralightsnear celbridge that they dont need id buy them

hi i have used schutz on my mini very easy to apply with a compressor and very cheap too 7 yoyos a can it looks like tar on the underside of the car and makes it look like brand new
