Re: 92 mini aka bibsi

Well hello all, haven't been on here in ages. Just seen my mini reappear as a 1966 hmmmmm, she's gotten older in years all of a sudden. and more expensive too lol. Someday when i can afford to buy another shell i will do another one. Anyone got a rolling shell with papers for a good home:) Sorry to...

Re: Ciarans 1380 Cooper

Some more progress as the shell is beginning to get some fresh steel back into it. I have to say the shell really was beyond sensible repair. If it wasnt a cooper it would have been scrapped, fortunatley it is. At the stage now where im trying to get a garage sourced to rebuild it. I also have to pi...

Re: Another Dodgy Mini

AFAIK the vintage road tax currently kicks in at 30 years, so that's 1987. NCT required from 1980 on. Still nearly 15 years of mini production falling into the regular tax system at the moment. Nothing you can do about it but it is crazy money to tax a car that may only get a few hundred miles a ye...

Re: Another Dodgy Mini

I completely understand that selling rung cars is wrong and dont agree with it.

However im more open to the idea of using a 70s reg solely for tax purposes. Its a absoloute joke that it costs 340 yoyo to tax a mini.

Re: Ciarans 1380 Cooper

A little update, the car has had half the crap cut out, however theres quite a bit more to go, i knew it was rotten but not as rotten as the pictures show, the shell was pretty much scrap.
Hopefully its saveable.

Hi,

Does anybody have any contact detail for chris? I need to talk to him and his usual number is going unanswered the last while.

Thanks.

Re: Ciarans 1380 Cooper

Ok a little update. The car has been sent away to hopefully have all the rust cut out of it. Its a fairly comprehensive list of panels that are needed. Hoping to have the car back for the IMM next summer. :)

Good luck.

All depends on the labour cost, the panels alone I'm looking at 3k.

The reshell maybe the only option.

Re: Help Removing Ring gear

The flywheel could be fretted onto the crank. Last time I did it I broke a pullers on it. Got a new one and wound it up as tight as I could with my breaker bar, left it for a week, tightening as much as I could each day. Then I heated it, then bate the doodoo out of it and eventually it popped off (...

Re: 92 mini aka bibsi

Did you ever get it on a rolling road/dyno ? Nope.. never had time to do it and needed to clear the garage but should be at the 120+ bhp mark. don't know where he got 130 form. Same place he got the price I presume. Probably a VRT inspector, similar traits :p. That hayabusa project looks interestin...

Ill say one thing, buy cheap with minis and youll be in the doodoo. Didnt see that of late, must be gone....
