Re: MPI top steady bar bush replacement
Thanks woody, it doesn't look like a socket would go over the nut given its closeness to the breather, maybe a really skinny one! I already got the bushes ages ago, they are the rover one piece ones.

MPI top steady bar bush replacement
Hi all, I'm going to have a go at doing the above, but as with every other job on the MPI, lack of room to wield a spanner is against me . Does anybody have any tips on the way to go? The engine breather is in the way, but it's nearly impossible to reach the nut on the inside. I've been puttin...

Re: Mini Friendly NCT Centres
I've had a couple of minis through numerous tests in Fonthill, Dublin and have always found them fair and never picked up on anything ridiculous or felt unreasonably done by.
Sometimes passed first time, and always on a re-test where required with little work.
Just personal experience.

Re: fuel guage
When l fill mine it will read 3/4 full and then drop to half full after around 50 miles. As Woody says , you will be grand driving in excess of 200 miles to a tank, 280 MAX. Personally, I always take a reading after filling up and refill when I reach the 240 mile mark and there is always a gallon or...

Scumbags! Braindead in more ways than one, as they hadn't even choked the engine going by the pics.
Glad to hear the claim was straightforward.

suspension replacement
Hi all, I will be replacing the rubber cones on my mini soon and was thinking about fitting a set of hi-lo's at the same time. Is it something many have done, or is it unnecessary for everyday road use?
Also, what rubber bushes should be changed on the car, seeing as she has just turned 17!

shorty on RTE
Hi all, saw a clip for tonight's episode of Damo and Ivor which featured an orange shorty.
Worth a look, if you happen to have a box in front of you!

Spotted a light brown elf, ZV, in convoy with a sportspack, 99 I think, city bound at Heuston this morning.
Later in Lucan village, I spotted Stuie's maroon clubman estate leaving the church carpark, so naturally I pulled the bus up and let him out! Beautiful whine from the gearbox as she sped away.

If you look closely under the nct cert on the brown one, you can see rust bubbles on the scuttle.
Scuttle decay can prove a costly fix.

Re: NCT aborted
Today I discovered the overflow pipe stub on the thermostat housing had been blocked causing the expansion bottle to fill right up, which explains what the nct tester described as coolant escaping from the expansion bottle cap. I had already flushed the system in both directions, ran a cleaner throu...

Re: NCT aborted
It's a multi point car, yes. Are those caps available from a motor factors? I'm going to flush the engine when I get a chance, I'll then re-fill the system 50/50. It would probably be good practice to replace the thermostat either way, so I'll do that too.

Thermostat functioning.
The finger of suspicion points to the pump. When I had the belt off, the pulley would rotate with small resistance felt, no noise. I think I'll whip it off all the Same and check the impeller.
