Re: VIn number and NCT
I looked at the nct manual this morning and it states that the vin must be visible but there is no mention of it having to be stamped.

VIn number and NCT
Had my NCT and was pulled for not having VIM number visible. I pointed out that the plate is perfectly visible on the inner wing but they said the chassis must be stamped. I got home and checked online and to the best of my knowledge it is only ever stamped on the scuttle panel. My car is an 86 and ...

Cost of engine machining
What would be typical costs of getting a 1275 bored out to 1330 or 1380?
Does anyone have any advice on what pistons to use, omega or other, forged or cast.
The engine will be used in a road car as a weekend driver.
Are there any other things I should think off and ask about when getting this done?

Re: Straight cut gears and NCT
The car is only used for a bit of fun at weekends. It's not a daily driver. Still undecided though.

Straight cut gears and NCT
Does anyone have any experience of putting a mini through a NCT with straight cut gears? Will it pass or be pulled for noise etc? If I was fitting a gearkit what should I fit drop gears only or full gearkit, what's the difference. I am planning a 1380 and while I am at it I was thinking of changing ...

Re: Cobra/Corbeau seats dealers?
I know they won't be as comfy as recliners and the car is a weekend thing not used everyday but I just want to check to see are they something that breaks your ass after 20 minutes. I sat in clubland a long time ago and they were well padded but I always thought they were quite bulky and you sat qui...

Re: Cobra/Corbeau seats dealers?
Called into them before but they had none in stock. I am debating about getting rid of my cooper recliners and getting something like the monacos, clubmans or classics. What are the monacos like for comfort? Is there any cushioning on the base?

Re: Number Plate Legalities
Do EU plates have to be on all cars or is it just after a particular year. I have an 86 mini with black & silver plates. Do they need to be changed for the NCT?

Engine choice & builder recommendations
I have a 1293 cc stage 1 engine in my 86 mini. The car is used at the weekends for a little blast here and there. I am wondering what engine & power I would need to get the car down to a 5-6 sec approx 0-60. I would like something fairly driveable with decent torque. Also would normal box do or ...
