Re: Ciarans 1380 Cooper
It would be too far gone if it was mine, I would be tempted on a re-shell to keep it but the regs aren't as favourable here as the UK.
Good luck.
Good luck.

Re: Rolling road day??
Woody, the top curve is torque the other power. Power and torque are related as Power = Torque X Angular Velocity (revs). Personally I prefer to see a good wide torque curve as that represents my style of driving and suits the long gearing of the mpi. Bhp is pub and Top Gear talk as far as road cars...

It is Billy, only 3 months old, my refurbished cooper head was seeping oil between the new guides and the casting, all sealed up now though.

Re: Rolling road day??
I'll kick this off. I was trialling some new injectors in the hope that they would give me a genuine 90Bhp MPi but as you can see it didn't quite attain that level, beat that torque though! http://i651.photobucket.com/albums/uu240/Dylan8660/RR%20071115%20FtLbamp%20HP_zpsm4kxch5a.jpg And here's the r...

Re: Electric Mini Conversion
Hi Kriss,
Glad your doing a build diary here too. It's a fine piece of work your doing. You've got that power steering column to fit nicely, what's it off? How are you going to provide a vacuum to the brake servo?

Re: Big Valve MPI Head
The process of polishing a head involves the full strip down of the head including the removal of the inlet valve guides and it is also impossible not to touch the valve seats whilst grinding and polishing. This means that new guides need to be pressed in, all seats need refaced and a head skim is t...

Provisionally sold.
I will be doing more from time to time if anyone's interested or wants the same treatment to their own head then drop me a line.

Big Valve MPI Head
This head has been refurbished with new MG Metro inlet valves (36.6mm), new inlet valve guides and new stem seals all round, it keeps the standard springs. The inlet valve seats have been professionally cut, blended and the head skimmed. The exhaust seats have been re-ground and all valves lapped in...

It wasn't so much the engine I was thinking about more the running gear, once that's fitted put any k series engine you want in.

Re: k series metro for parts
The k-series metro or Rover 100 was by all accounts a very good car with excellent ride properties thanks to the hydrogas suspension but as is the usual story of Rover it lacked proper investment, marketing and suffered from the previous models reputation. A total revision of the previous model ther...

Re: fuel guage
To get a more accurate fuel gauge I took out the sender and bent the wire so that the float pointed towards the back of the tank when re-assembled. It was a bit tricky to get right though, but worth it.

Re: Brake pad replacement
Yes, road pads for road use, there's no time to let them heat up when a kid runs out in front. if you think heat build up might be a problem then go for a high temperature brake fluid and/or fit stainless pistons. Mintex serve me well. A decent pair of pipe grips are good for getting the pistons bac...
