Re: Old Clubby 2BY1

2BY1 was well known in the club back in the '90s . It went through several rebuilds at that time, didn't have an easy life. John McGuinness was the last owner I knew of.

Hard to get good quality bumpers these days. While you have it off paint the inside of it to prevent rusting from the back.

Re: 1983 Mini City

Personally if its not broke don't replace it. The quality of new parts is so questionable these days.
Don't overheat the sill trim when fitting.\if it gets too soft you can leave finger indents in it.

Re: 1983 Mini City

I think the bearing is the correct way round but the shaft appears to be touching the clutch retaining bolt. Is the bolt and lock washer sitting all the way home? Is the top hat touching the bolt?

Re: 1983 Mini City

Your clutch would have been a 184mm and the '93 could be a 190mm Does the smoke smell like clutch pad wearing. I would be worried about the primary gear seizing on the crankshaft. I can't think of anything else that would cause a lot of heat. remind me what work was done around clutch and drop gears...
