Re: Steering column movement

There should be a plastic Bush that slides over the top of the inner shaft and sits in between the outter and inner shafts.

Re: CLASSIC INSURANCE

I'm with Barrett Private Insurance and can't recommend them highly enough.

Have had 2 Minis, a van, and 3 cars insured all on the same policy and for a much better price than anywhere else.

Max is the guy who looks after me and is great to deal with.

Re: Mini Magic *new event*

On one hand you're saying the scene is dead, and on the other you're interrogating someone for trying to do something positive to help the scene!

Re: Mini Magic *new event*

Great to see someone taking the initiative to run an exclusive Mini event in Ireland, particularly one that gets Minis on track.

Not sure if I can make it yet, but might be there with the new 1275gt race car I'm working on.

Keep up the good work.

Re: Vin number, is my car Irish built?

My '69 Irish built car has an E on the end of the VIN which stands for 'Eire', as far as I know, so yours may well be Irish assembled too.

Good stuff, at least you've got your priorities right with getting the bodywork sorted first!

Yes, come say hi at IMM. Just look out for a red van with Granby Motor Sport written across it!

Re: Final Drive Ratio's

3.4 is usually the best all round ratio for daily driving. Typically a race or rally car will have a ratio between 3.9 and 4.6 depending on what discipline it's being used in. Swapping out the diff ratio isn't a straight forward job, though. Engine out, split from gearbox, fit new crown wheel and pi...

Mk2 Irish Car Barn Find

Have had this Mini for a little while now and meant to share it here! Early Irish built Minis are incredibly rare these days and I think it's important they be documented and shared with people. In fact, it would be great to start a register within the club that catalogues all of the existing cars a...

Re: teething Problems with rebuild 1275

We need to know what revs the engine is doing at 75mph. No point speculating on diff ratios otherwise!

Is the seal brand new?

New ones are usually thicker than the originals and can have this affect.

Re: Dunboyne 25th Sept

Dunboyne isn't really a car show - entry is only open to cars participating in the parade laps. I've had my Mini at it the last 2 years but missed the deadline this year.

Re: Transport a mini

Can you point me in the direction of what you read on the RSA site? Have never come across anything specific to car transporters so would be good to get some clarity. Not sure why there would be different rules for transporting a car anyway!

Re: Transport a mini

You can tow a trailer over 750kgs as long as the combined train weight of the car/van and trailer does not exceed 3500kgs.

There are a few places in Dublin that hire out trailers if you do a Google search - don't know of anywhere that hires out the dolly you have pictured though.

Re: 1293 Engine Build Advice

Your budget is going to make things tricky. An SW5 in a 1293 goes really well, and coupled with the right head, is a great package. HIF44 is definitely your best option in terms of reliability and driveability and a lot cheaper and easier to fit! You should also consider a differential with a harden...

Why don't you try selling them on one of the UK Mini Parts pages on Facebook?

Much bigger market and people are always interested in unusual items.
